Oak Island Golf
Assistant in Training

Oak Island Golf is a picturesque, 18-hole premier golf destination that lies approximately 25 kilometers southeast of Virden and 65 kilometres west of Brandon. We are currently looking for an Assistant in Training to join our team for the 2026 season. Oak Island is seeking individuals who are highly motivated, responsible, willing to learn and with a good work ethic. The position is full-time seasonal (April to October).

Experience Requirements:

Candidates with turf management schooling are preferred but not required

 Responsibilities:

All aspects of golf course maintenance including:

  • Crew Supervision
  • Project Planning and Implementation
  • Equipment Operation
  • Course Setup
  • Irrigation Operation and Maintenance
  • Cultural Practices (Aeration, Chemical Application, )

 Special Requirements:

  • Positive Attitude
  • Attention to Detail
  • Physically able to lift and carry 50 lbs regularly
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Flexible in Shift Requirements, including Evenings, Weekends, and Holidays

Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience

General Manager, Golf and Operations

(Paid Relocation to Shilo, MB)

Under the direction of the PSP Manager, the General Manager plans, coordinates, manages and evaluates ALL golf course operations, including all turf maintenance programs, golf professional contracts, diverse recreation operations, facilities, and food and beverage services; develops and implements local marketing and promotional programs; performs customer satisfaction survey; consults with the various club committees to prepare events schedule; and conducts reviews of the operations and prepares and recommends business strategies to enhance the viability and profitability.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Administration, Hospitality or a related field AND some years of experience in golf course or outdoor centre management or in a related field

OR

College diploma or certificate in Business Management, Business Administration, Hospitality or a related field AND several years of experience in golf course management or related field

OR

A demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. This includes but is not limited to demonstrated military education, training or experience

AND

Current Ice Technician Certification, an asset (mandatory for ice (arena) operations)

  • A valid driver’s license (Manitoba), an asset
  • Provincial Responsible Service of Alcohol certification, as required
  • CPR and basic First Aid qualifications, an asset

Experience

In golf, hospitality, recreation facilities or related business management

In developing and implementing local marketing strategies, including social media

  • In applying policies, procedures, and regulations
  • In personnel administration
  • In budget administration
  • In coordinating food and beverage services
  • In asset management including contracting and procurement
  • In using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations,
  • databases, e-mail, and Internet browsing

Competencies, Skills and Abilities

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation,

teamwork and leadership.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • English Essential, Bilingual an asset
  • Reading: Advanced
  • Writing: Functional
  • Oral: Advanced

Salary: 83,480.00 - 98,240.00 CAD Per Year

Location: Shilo, Manitoba

Position Type: Permanent Full Time
