What do you get as a member of MGSA?

By becoming a member of the Manitoba Golf Superintendents Association, your are entitled to the members benefits. These include;
-Invitation to attend all monthly meetings and vote on important golf courses issues. -Receive Super News, the quartley newsletter of the Manitoba Golf Superintendents Association. -Receive notification of employment opportunities.
-Networking with others in the golfing community to exchange and disseminate information. -Receive assistance and advice on problems such as diseases, turf, ponds, and other golf related issues.

Membership Classes and Fees
 "A" $125.00 A golf course superintendent with at least three (3) years experience as a golf course superintendent at the time of application and be employed in such capacity. A manager-superintendent or a pro-superintendent shall be eligible provided he/she is not already a member of the Society of Club Secretaries or Managers Association or the Professional Golfers Association. Only one "A" member per golf course shall be eligible for this classification. Class "A" members shall have all the privileges of the Association. Must possess a valid pesticide applicators license, copy to be attached to application.
"A-MANAGEMENT" $125.00 Any person who has been an A, B, or Assistant Superintendent and is actively involved in golf course work where they are supervising a superintendent or a number of superintendents, or acting as a Director of Golf. Class A-Management members shall have all voting privileges and may be elected to the Board of Directors where full voting privileges will apply, including matters of policy. Must possess a valid pesticide applicators license, copy to be attached to the application
"B" $125.00 A golf course superintendent with less than 3 years experinece as a golf course superintendent. Class "B" members shall have all the voting privileges and may be elected to the Board of Directors, but shall not hold the office of President or Vice-President. Must possess a valid pesticide applicators license. There shall be a grace period of one membership year before the membershi[ class is revoked in the case of changes in employment circumstances.
"B1" $125.00 Any person who is actively engaged in turf culture other than golf course work. Class "B1" members shall have all voting privileges and one Class "B1" member may be elected to the Board of Directors and full voting privileges will apply, including matters of policy. Must possess a valid pesticide applicators license, copy to be attached to the application.
"ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT" $125.00 Any person working under the direction of a golf course superintendent with designated authority as an assistant. Members of this class shall have all voting privileges, and one (1) Class Assistant Superintendent may be elected to the Board of Directors, and full voting privileges will apply, including matters of policy.
"COMMERCIAL" $125.00 Any person interested in the Association and whose field of employment is related to turf growing and maintenance thereof. A Commercial member shall have all voting privileges except on matters of policy defined by the President, and may be appointed to committees with the exception that one Commercial member may be elected to the Board of Directors as the Commercial Representative and full voting privileges will apply, including matters of policy.
"ASSOCIATE" $125.00 To qualify as an Associate Member, an applicant must be one who is sufficiently interested in the profession of turf growing and to work on behalf of the Association. Associate members shall not be entitled to vote or hold office.
"FIRST YEAR ASSOCIATE" $65.00 To qualify as a First-Year Associate member, an applicant must be an individual who has never belonged to the Association and who is sufficiently interested in the profession of turf management to work on behalf of the Association. All rights and privileges shall apply, except for voting privileges, holding office, and issuance of a membership card.
"STUDENT" $20.00 A student, while enrolled in a two (2) year turf studies program and for the year following graduation. All rights and privileges shall apply, except for voting privileges, holding office, and issuance of a membership card.
